Auctioneer: When to Scan in order to Explode Profits

Auctioneer is a mandatory tool if you are serious about making gold in World of Warcraft. Of course the goal is to buy low off the auction house and re list and sell high, but most players don't think about when to scan to get the best deals. If you are logging on or running your scans during the peak time (late afternoon or early evening), the best deals for the day are probably already gone.

The best deals to be had are early in the morning. This is because players from the night before log onto the AH to list items right before they log off. As a result, a lot of players are listing the same items at the same time on the AH, which will drive prices lower than they should be because of all the undercutting going on. Also, players are tired and burnt out from playing, so they may not be paying attention to what they're doing and make mistakes listing. These factors are what you're looking to exploit.

Either park an alt by the AH full-time, or just log out by the AH. When you wake up in the morning, fire up a scan at that time. You can remove things like containers, quivers, and projectiles from your scan to make it go faster. You can do your morning routine while the program is scanning. Once the scan is finished find the deals using the search tab in Auctioneer. Set up a few saved seaches such as buyouts where the item is 80% undervalued and the potential profit is at least 1g. Buy anything that looks like a great deal. Also look at short and medium auctions that are undervalued that you can bid on. One key thing to make sure of before you buy is to make sure the price is well established on your server. If an item has been scanned less than 20 times by Auctioneer, the price for the item may not be established yet, so beware when buying these items.

Head over to the mailbox and re list your buyouts on the AH before you log off. Use this strategy everyday as part of your morning routine and you should find several great deals a day that will make you a lot of gold for a small amount of effort.
