There are great instructions and support on the site if you have any questions of how to do so. When installed, Auctioneer adds 4 tabs in addition to the three original tabs: Search auctions, post auctions, BottomScanner, and Transaction Log. It also adds a scan button to your browse tab. When you hit scan, it goes through all the auctions in the Auction house and records pricing info, such as buy-out price. The data is displayed on the item pop-up windows that appear when you hover over an item.

In order for Auctioneer info to be helpful to you, you need to make sure that the data is meaningful. If the pop-up window is telling me the price of an item, but Auctioneer has only seen it 2 times, do you think that the price being shown is accurate? Usually it is not, so what you want to do is before you you start using the Auctioneer data to try and profit is scan the auction house many times. How many is enough? I would say that scanning the Auction House twice a day for two weeks will give you some accurate pricing data on most items. Auctioneer probably will not have seen really rare items (like epic weapons) that many times, so tread carefully. Scan the auction house often to keep your pricing data current.

One you have accurate prices for your server, there's many ways you can use Auctioneer to profit. If you see an item that is listed at too low of a price, buy it up and relist it for more. If you see cheap reagents that you can use to craft, you can buy them and make something to resell for more than the cost of the mats. Also, the enchantrix addon that works with Auctioneer can tell you if you can buy a cheap green item on the Auction House and disenchant and list the mats for a profit. There's lots of things to do with Auctioneer, but make sure you hold off on using it until you have scanned the Auction House plenty of times and continue to scan to stay up to date.

The Auction House Alt: What It Is And Why You Need One

An auction house alt is a level 1 character created for the sole purpose of camping out in your faction's auction house. Your alt will live its entire life in the auction house and never level past 1. Your main characters mail any items that they want to auction to the alt, and the alt simply lists items and collect and holds the cash. Your alt mails his hordes of gold to any of your other characters when they need it. There are a few advantages to using an auction house alt.

1. Time savings: none of your main characters have to travel back to a main city to list items. This time saved traveling back and forth to town is substantial, and you will have way more playing time to do other things if you use an alt to cut out your traveling.

2. Inventory Space: Character's inventory full? Find a mailbox and unload items to your alt and head back out there. Bag-space becomes much less of an issue using this method.

3. Money Management: It's very easy to keep track of your in-game finances when all your money is on one character. Treat it like a bank account and withdraw money for your other characters whenever you need it.

4. Reputation: Your gold dealing for your entire account goes through this alt, including buy-low sell-high activities and hard-line negotiations. Players get possessive about their gold and items, and it's easy to make enemies through trading. Using an auction house alt, your players are shielded from this kind of exposure and can concentrate on other things.

Article: Lets Make Gold in World of Warcraft! It's true that a lot of players are reporting that they are getting large amounts of gold just from doing their daily quests, so they are a profitable use of your time. But will they replace professions? I don't think so.

Professions still provide players with things they need (like potions, gear, and enchanting reagents), and even if players forsake their professions for daily quests, there will still be a need for those items by the population.

What daily quests may be replacing, however, is farming for mats. With more players doing daily quests instead of farming, supplies of farmed mats on some servers is decreasing. Couple that with the fact that the players who aren't farming still have money because of their daily quest rewards, and you have a recipe for inflated mat prices. For those of you out there who are savvy gold-makers, you may see a nice opportunity on your server to farm some items that have increased in price, making mat-farming very much worth your time.

3 World of Warcraft Gold Farming Spots

I see a lot of people posting on the forums looking for good gold farming spots. I decided to feed the need and list 3 good gold farming spots that you can check out.

Gold farming spot 1: Shadowmoon Valley
Head to the southeast section of Netherwing ledge to farm Enraged-air spirits. They drop motes of air, and 10 motes of air can be combined into a primal air, which is in very high demand right now for crafting high level epic items. Expect to get 20-30 gold per primal air depending on your server. The drop rate is pretty good and you can also expect random green and some blue drops to sell as well.

Gold farming spot 2: Shadowmoon Valley
Still in Shadowmoon valley obviously, only this time head to the Legoin Hold. Here, you want to farm the Wrathwalkers, Terrormasters and Mo'arg Weaponsmiths, which drop Marks of Sargeras and Fel Armaments that are used for Aldor reputation. Marks go for around 60s-1g and the Armaments go for about 10g-15g. These mobs also drop a lot of Netherweave Cloth, green items, and some nice grey trash items.

Gold farming spot 3: Netherstorm
Head to the Arklon Ruins to farm Artifact Seekers. These mobs have a decent drop rate for Fel Hide, which is used in a few high level leatherworking recipes. A stack will usually go for about 20-25 gold.

These gold farming spots should get you started if you are a high level character. Hopefully they are not too crowded on your server and you can make some nice money. Check out Warcraft Wealth if you want a lot more farming spots (some of them most players would not have thought to farm, so you can have them all to yourself!)

Myth: "Players on my server charge unreasonable prices for mats!"

I see people on the forums sometimes making these types of comments and it makes me kind of chuckle. The fact of the matter is, the economy in World of Warcraft is as about as basic and unregulated as it gets. If you understand the concept of supply and demand, then you understand the Auction House. Most servers have thousands of characters on them, and there are only 7 crafting professions. That is a lot of demand for a small amount of materials.

Players list items at prices that sell. The AH charges fees, so there is no incentive to keep relisting items (more like a disincentive). Some players, in an effort to sell really quickly, undercut market prices by a significant amount (the opposite of overcharging!).

The conclusion here is that, for the most part, players are paying the prices that items are listed at. If these prices are too high for you, then they way I see it, you have 2 options:

Drop your crafting profession all together and take up 2 gathering professions. You can take maximum advantage of the prices of mats by getting them and selling them all. If your character is getting rich, you can usually buy gear as good or better than what you could make crafting. You could also pay to load it up on enchants. Now, you may not be willing to do this because you think crafting is a lot of fun. I can't say I blame you. I think crafting is cool too, and we play the game to have fun right? But if you can't afford to craft, that is not fun either, so on to option 2...

Make gold in other ways. There's lot's of ways to make money: farm items, daily quests, buy low and sell high on the AH (using Auctioneer for example). Warcraft Wealth has a lot of great strategies on making gold for lowbies and advanced players. Invest at least a little time in a gold-making strategy so you can afford things.

So you can make some money to afford those mats without much effort and still have fun in the game. Don't worry about what others are charging for mats on the AH, take advantage of the prices instead!

Review of Warcraft Wealth

I have put up a review of my favorite World of Warcraft gold guide to date. Warcraft Wealth came out recently so it is up to date with the latest strategies, and it includes tons of stuff for newbies and advanced players, including video tutorials. If you currently think this way, let me show you why you shouldn't. Let’s say that Mt. Silversage (MS) and Dreamfoil (DF) each sell for 1g each. Greater Arcane Elixir uses 3 x DF and 1 x MS…which means that it costs 4g to make, plus the cost of a vial. Let’s suppose that Greater Arcane Elixirs sell for 3g a piece on the AH as an average. This is the same as the statement above, the potion sells for less than the costs to buy the herbs. If this is the case, let me ask you something:

If you can sell the herbs for 4 gold, why would you ever sell the potion for 3?

Most players that think like the above statement aren't taking the value of their time into account. The fact that you spent time farming herbs that are worth something to somebody entitles you to the 4 gold price that they command, so you should never think of trying to sell a potion for 3 gold, because it is not true profit. You're missing out on the possibility of making even more money. The only truly profitable crafted items are ones where the mats cost LESS than the crafted items. There are very few crafted items that meet this criteria.

You shouldn't ever discount the value of your time. Just because you farmed the mats yourself, doesn't mean they are free. They are still worth a price, and selling the mats as is will almost always make you more money than using them for crafted items.

Auctioneer: When to Scan in order to Explode Profits

Auctioneer is a mandatory tool if you are serious about making gold in World of Warcraft. Of course the goal is to buy low off the auction house and re list and sell high, but most players don't think about when to scan to get the best deals. If you are logging on or running your scans during the peak time (late afternoon or early evening), the best deals for the day are probably already gone.

The best deals to be had are early in the morning. This is because players from the night before log onto the AH to list items right before they log off. As a result, a lot of players are listing the same items at the same time on the AH, which will drive prices lower than they should be because of all the undercutting going on. Also, players are tired and burnt out from playing, so they may not be paying attention to what they're doing and make mistakes listing. These factors are what you're looking to exploit.

Either park an alt by the AH full-time, or just log out by the AH. When you wake up in the morning, fire up a scan at that time. You can remove things like containers, quivers, and projectiles from your scan to make it go faster. You can do your morning routine while the program is scanning. Once the scan is finished find the deals using the search tab in Auctioneer. Set up a few saved seaches such as buyouts where the item is 80% undervalued and the potential profit is at least 1g. Buy anything that looks like a great deal. Also look at short and medium auctions that are undervalued that you can bid on. One key thing to make sure of before you buy is to make sure the price is well established on your server. If an item has been scanned less than 20 times by Auctioneer, the price for the item may not be established yet, so beware when buying these items.

Head over to the mailbox and re list your buyouts on the AH before you log off. Use this strategy everyday as part of your morning routine and you should find several great deals a day that will make you a lot of gold for a small amount of effort.

Gold Making Professions

If you want to be a wealthy character and be able to buy all of the cool toys, drop your crafting professions. Crafting professions cost you money rather than make you money. You are never going to be able to farm all of the mats required to craft the goods you want to wear, or that you need to level up your professions. As a result you will end up spending your hard-earned gold just to level your profession. New recipes, plans, and schematics also cost money on the AH too, unless you are going to go out and find them all. Also, there are so many crafters in the game, that most crafted goods are not very profitable at the AH (if there is any profit at all).

Yes, the most profitable professions are the gathering professions. The mats you gather are always in high demand to all of the legions of crafters out there, and some of the high level stuff can really make you rich. Herbalism and Mining tend to be the most profitable, but it is difficult to use both of these because you can only have one tracker on at a time. For this reason, I usually take mining or herbalism plus skinning. This way, when I am out killing beasts, I can loot, skin, and track herbs or nodes. Plus I can skin corpses that are killed by someone else that did not skin them. Other ways to gather are the prospecting ability for Jewelcrafters or disenchanting.

So if you are struggling to make lots of gold, drop your crafting profession and pick up two gathering professions. If you want to craft, you can pick up the profession later on once you get rich off of gathering.

Grinding for Gold Efficiently

Grinding is the most basic and common ways to make gold in World of Warcraft. Because of this, it gets quite a bit of attention from all types of players. Most players that grind for gold do not do so efficiently, so they are leaving money on the table.

One of the major mistakes is not knowing the correct spots to farm gold in. There are many good ones throughout the world, and I'm not going to go through all of them here. Warcraft Wealth does a great job of pointing out the best spots and what mobs to look for.

Another major mistake players make when grinding for gold is too much downtime. Downtime is the amount of time spent doing anything other than killing mobs (drinking, sitting, walking to the next mob, etc.). Of these, sitting and drinking is one area where you can definitely eliminate unwanted downtime from your routine.

Consider this; spending time sitting and drinking can take anywhere from 15-30 seconds. If you can kill 5 mobs in a row before having to sit, this means that every 100 mobs you are spending between 5 and 10 minutes just sitting. This is a lot of wasted time when you are trying to make as much gold per hour as you can. So what can you do to eliminate downtime?

Spend the gold to respec your character to the best grinding spec. Every class has one, and it is worth the investment to go out and do if you plan on grinding for gold. Using the right character spec can really increase you gold per hour rate and eliminate downtime. Also, when you are out grinding, consider other ways to eliminate downtime and max your efficiency to get the most gold.
